During WWII the United States Air Force was part of the Department of the United States Army. General Eisenhower chose to have a jacket designed that would fit his slimmer build, that would become synonymous with pilots. This jacket is a 36R (regular). It has Tech Corporal rank on both sleeves, the 15th Air Force unit insignia on the right sleeves and the Army-Air Force patch on the left. The service member spent two year in the Mediterranean Theater during WWII designated by the overseas service stripes (Combat Stripes).
