Akers played collegiately at Florida State from 2017 to 2019. He was selected with the 52nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the LA Rams. He wouldn’t score a rushing touchdown until Week 11 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He would rollout his best rushing game 0f his rookie season three weeks later against the New England Patriots with 171 yards on 29 attempts. Both games were wins for the Rams. He would help the Rams defeat the Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card round, but they would come up short in the Divisional round to the Green Bay Packers. In 2021, he would tear his Achilles tendon during the pre-season and return to the active roster five months later on Christmas Day. He would not see any action until Week 18 against the San Francisco 49ers. He would help the Rams win the Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals. If he can stay healthy, he could lead the Rams to multiple Super Bowls.
