Description

Steve Yzerman was selected by the Detroit Redwings with the 4th overall pick in the 1983 NHL draft.  He would spend his entire 22-year NHL career with the Redwings.  He would be named the Redwings captain 1986.  He would hold the title until his retirement, making him the longest tenured team captain in the NHL at 19 years.  He is second in every scoring statistic to Gordie Howe in the Redwings record books except for assists, where he is ahead of Howe.  He has led the Redwings to five President’s Trophies for most team points in the regular season and three Stanley Cup titles.  He also helped team Canada to the 2002 Olympic Gold medal in Salt Lake City.  He would turn to managing after his playing career was over with the Redwings, Lightning, and Team Canada.  This would look great in any hockey fan’s collection.
