Mike Trout or “The Millville Meteor” was selected with the 25th overall pick in the 2009 MLB Draft by the LA Angels. His father, Jeff played 4 years of minor league ball before a knee injury ended his career. Mike would make his debut on July 8, 2011, with the Angels. He would get his MLB hit in his second game with the team, his first MLB homerun would come on July 24, 2011. He would finish the season in the Minor league. He would be called up again in 2012. He would go on to win the AL Rookie of the Year award in 2012. He would be edged out by Miguel Cabrera for the AL MVP award (Cabrera also won the AL Triple Crown in 2012). Trout would win his first AL MVP award in 2014. He would win his second MVP in 2016 and his third in 2019. He has finished second in MVP voting three times in his first four seasons. He has played in the playoffs only once in his career in 2014, losing to the KC Royals in the Divisional Series. Mike was sidelined for the majority of the 2021 season with a torn calf muscle. He has been selected to captain the US National team in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. Trout’s accolades are 10-time All-Star, 3-time AL MVP, 2-time MLB All-Star Game MVP, 2-time All-MLB First Team selections and other accolades. Trout grew up a Philadelphia Phillies fan and idolized Derek Jeter. Trout most likely would be a first ballot hall of famer when he becomes eligible. This card would make a great addition to anyone’s collection.
