Aaron Judge was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 2013 MLB Draft with the 32nd overall pick. He was a standout at Fresno State, the same university that produced David and Derek Carr of the NFL. Judge would spend the entire 2013 season rehabbing an injury. He would show out during the 2014 season between Single A and Single A Advanced ball. His stats would be rewarded with an invitation to 2015 Spring Training with the main club. He excelled in AA ball for part of the 2015 season before being promoted to AAA. He made his debut in 2016 hitting back-to-back homeruns with Tyler Austin on August 13th. He would become the 2nd Yankees rookie to hit homeruns in their first two games, matching Joe Lefebvre’s feat from 1980. He would officially be a rookie in 2017 where he would hit 52 homeruns, have a batting average of .284 and 114 RBIs. He would win the 2017 AL Rookie of the Year and Silver Slugger awards. He would finish 2nd in AL MVP voting to Jose Altuve. He has been selected as an All-Star four times. He currently has hit 61 homeruns in 2022, tying Roger Maris’s single season American League record. He is already considered a Yankee great, but time will only tell if he will become a Yankee legend.
